The difference between acrylic board and PC endurance board

When we select materials, in addition to paying attention to the price, we should also have a certain understanding of their types and performance. First of all, the basic raw materials of PC endurance board and acrylic board are different. Acrylic is made by polymerization of “mathyl methacrylate monomer MMA.” Or it is made by extruding acrylic pellets through an extruder. PC endurance board is made of polycarbonate as the main component and the uses CO-EXTRUSION technology CO-EXTRUSION.

Acrylic is relatively brittle, and its resistance to impact is not as good as that of PC boards. It will be broken if you hit the acrylic with a hammer, but PC boards will not. The surface light transmittance, the new material endurance board has a high light transmittance, it looks very transparent, but the acrylic is a bit hazy. Moreover, acrylic is easy to age, and PC endurance board can be made into anti-aging. In the sun, the light reflected by the PC endurance board is very horizontal, which can be seen by the naked eye.

Good plasticity: it can be easily processed into special products, such as glass, partitions, and bathtubs.

Good transparency: it is a colorless transparent plexiglass sheet, a material with excellent transparency, with a light transmittance of more than 92%. taste is used for partitions giving people a vague and vague visual beauty.

Although the acrylic sheet is excellent, it also has shortcomings. Generally, ordinary acrylic sheets are easy to crack, break, deform, and have unstable colors due to their low hardness, poor heat resistance, and low elongation. It is prone to fluffing during use. Shaped bathtubs are generally prone to color changes due to the large stretch of the bottom. Usually, the corners of the bottom have whitening, yellowing and other discoloration.

Each type of board has its advantages and disadvantages, and so does the PC board.

3.Advantages of PC endurance board:

Light transmittance: The light transmittance of PC board can reach 89%, which is comparable to glass. UV-coated panels will not cause yellowing, fogging, or poor light transmission when exposed to the sun. After ten years, the loss of light transmission is only 10%, the loss rate of PVC is as high as 15%-20%, and the glass fiber is 12%-20%.

Impact resistance: The impact strength is 250-300 times that of ordinary glass, 30 times that of acrylic sheets of the same thickness, and 220 times that of tempered glass. With a 3KG hammer, there will be no cracks even when falling two meters. There are “not broken glass” and the reputation of “Sound Steel”.

Anti-ultraviolet: The PC board has an anti-ultraviolet(UV) coating on one side and an anti-condensation treatment on the other side, which integrates anti-ultraviolet, heat insulation and anti-fogging functions. It can block ultraviolet rays form passing through, and is suitable for protecting valuable artworks and exhibits from ultraviolet rays.

Light weight: The specific gravity is only half that of glass, saving the cost of transportation, loading and unloading, installation and supporting frame.

Flame-retardant: The national standard GB50222-95 conforms that the PC board is flame-retardant grade one, that is, grade B1. The ignition point of the PC board is 580℃, and it will self-extinguish after leaving the fire. It will not produce harmful gases during combustion and will not promote the spread of the fire.

Bendability: According to the design drawings, it can be cold-formed at the construction site and installed into an arched, semi-circular roof and window. the bending radius is 175 times of the thickness of the plate, and it can also be heated.
